Quality Assurance

About the System

In General

 The Act on Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education (Official Gazette 45/09) regulates the area of ​​quality‐system assurance and improvement in science and higher education. The quality system is therefore implemented within the organizational framework of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek (henceforth referred to as FABSO). In order to ensure the high‐quality standards of education and scientific research work and international recognition of the Faculty, the quality system is implemented within a defined and transparent legal and organizational framework, with a permanent purpose of promoting the high standards of stakeholders’ professional development from all the structures of the Faculty, including the external stakeholders. The cooperation with external stakeholders is maintained continuously, with the aim of collecting feedback that is important and useful in the implementation of quality‐improvement activities. The quality system must ensure a continuous monitoring and improvement of educational process’s quality, which is why a necessity for the establishment and constant development of an internal quality‐assurance and improvement system arises. When organizing the quality system at the Faculty, specificities in the field of scientific research and development and professional work are taken into account. The system develops a higher educational quality through the mechanisms for permanent monitoring and evaluation and by directing the initiatives and development programs.

Quality Mission

 The mission of the quality system of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek is to ensure, plan, implement, monitor, analyze, and improve the quality of education. The quality system operates in accordance with the established mission and vision and development strategy of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek.

Quality Strategy

 The quality system implements its quality policy by ensuring and constantly improving quality while implementing quality‐assurance strategies in certain areas essential for the operation: organization of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek, development of study programs and the teaching process, education of teaching staff, student support, development of cooperation with the economic entities, scientific research work, and international cooperation.

Quality Policy

 The quality policy of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek promotes a permanent commitment of the Administration and all employees to the excellence of educational and scientific-research work and international recognition while meeting a high level of expectations of all stakeholders in higher education and science—that is, in the society as a whole, in its capacity as the end user.

QualityRelated History

 In parallel with the implementation of the Bologna process, the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek initiated the quality‐monitoring and improvement activities. With a desire to achieve the highest possible quality of educational process as the most important activity of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek, and in accordance with the international quality standards, the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek appointed the Committee for the Assurance and Improvement of the Quality of Education, prepared the necessary documents, and intensified the activities in the quality‐system promotion. In the strategic goals for the period of the Academic Years 2011–12 and 2015–16, the emphasis in the field of management, teaching, research, and international activities was put on the assurance and elevation of the quality of work. Furthermore, a Rulebook and a Quality‐Assurance Manual were created. The activities were precisely defined in the Manual, in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area, and were aimed to ensure a high‐quality performance of internal judgment, which contributes to the analysis of a current quality‐assurance status of and is the basis for the assurance and further improvement of the quality system.

A Vision of Quality

Due to its tradition, the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek aspires to educate the experts in agricultural production who, with their skills, knowledge, and competence, will meet the needs of the market and practice in agrobiotechnology, so that the Faculty becomes a regionally recognized higher educational institution in Eastern Croatia.
