Postgraduate specialist study

Studies

The Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek has created and has been conducting five postgraduate specialist studies based on agricultural knowledge in various fields for several years.

Postgraduate specialist studies: Quality and safety of animal products, Production systems in animal husbandry and Pig breeding provide knowledge from the fields of animal husbandry, domestic animal nutrition, genetics and breeding of plants, animals and microorganisms, while the postgraduate specialist study Agricultural management offers knowledge in economics, and the postgraduate specialist study Plant Protection from the field of phytomedicine.

Postgraduate specialists studies Quality and safety of animal products, Production systems in animal husbandry, Pig breeding and Agricultural management last three semesters (1.5 years) and upon their completion, the student receives 90 ECTS points, while the postgraduate specialist studies Plant protection lasts 4 semesters (2 years). and upon their completion, the student receives 120 ECTS credits.

The reasons for starting postgraduate specialist studies are to provide the opportunity for graduated agricultural engineers, i.e. masters of the profession, to acquire focused professional knowledge in the field of agriculture and, with the help of new scientific knowledge and technologies, to personally contribute to the development of their own production units. Postgraduate specialist studies enable participants to not only expand and supplement what they have already learned, but also acquire completely new knowledge that provides opportunities for better employment and earnings throughout their lives.

The competitions that the student of specialist studies acquires upon completion of postgraduate specialist studies are:

  1.     Quality and safety of animal products: participants gain knowledge about the latest knowledge, regulations, and technological solutions from the topic of quality and safety in the production of foodstuffs of animal origin.
  2.     Production systems in animal husbandry: participants acquire the latest knowledge and technological solutions about production systems in animal husbandry, and technologies of animal products, as two important factors in animal production.
  3.     Pig breeding: participants can independently organize pig breeding production and directly apply theoretical and practical knowledge.
  4.     Management of the agricultural economy: participants acquire the latest scientific knowledge about the complex system of making business decisions and criteria for the economics of agricultural production, along with the basics of macroeconomic management and information systems. Highly professional experts in the management of agricultural farms, either family farms or different forms of agricultural trading companies, are formed.
  5.     Plant protection: participants can independently recognize (determine) plant pests, organize and implement measures to control them, apply theoretical and practical knowledge, and build ethical principles about the quality of plant products, preservation of biological diversity, and environmental protection.
