Central Agrobiotechnical Analytical Unit

The reception of soil samples and organic fertilizers at the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. workdays in Room 030 during a period sopecified by the Rulebook on the Methodology for Monitoring the Condition of Agricultural Land.

Art. 28, para. 5, of the Rules on the Methodology for Monitoring the Condition of Agricultural Land stipulates the following: “Except for the ponds, soil fertility testing pertaining to the agricultural land is administered in the period from 1 June to 31 October on the arable fields subsequent to the crop harvest, in the fall on perennial plantations, in the hibernal postharvest period, and prior to the application of fertilizers." As an exception to para. 5, the samples may be taken beyond the specified period, in accordance with the agrotechnical operations pertaining to the individual crops and agroecological conditions.

The Central Agrobiotechnical Analytical Unit (hereinafter CAAU) is an independent organizational constituent of the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek (hereinafter FABSO) established in 2021 whose activities are related to a practical and laboratory‐based teaching, students’ laboratory activities, performance of scientific and/or professional research work, and other necessary laboratory tasks, examinations, and analyses. Within the CAAU framework, the clear rules of behavior and work in laboratories, the rules of maintenance and use of laboratory material and equipment, and the rules of disposal of waste chemicals and of the storage and preservation of chemicals have been prescribed pursuant to the legal regulations and internal acts of the Faculty. The fundamental role of the CAAU is the development and enhancement of research teams, strategic planning of laboratory‐equipment purveyance and equipment maintenance, optimization of exploitation of equipment and space, and the building of research and analytical capacities for the application and implementation of projects on a national and international level. The goal of the CAAU is to express awareness, commitment, and responsibility for the sake of a constant improvement in the quality of operations and actions that are important for the Faculty through its arrangements and the implementation of measures and activities within its scope. The CAAU consists of three units: the Unit for the Determination of Phenotypic and Production Characteristics, the Unit for Quantitative Analysis, and the Unit for Precise Instrumental Analysis.

 

In order to ensure a high quality of scientific and professional analytical activities, the Center for Standardization of Samples, the Unit for the Reception of Specific Samples, and the Unit for In Vitro Cultivation are located within the Central Agrobiotechnical Analytical Unit.
